1. Provide an example of a time when someone convinced you to change your mind or persuaded you to do something by just using their words. This can be a friend, family member, teacher, celebrity (ex. a speech), the evangelist on the street corner, etc. What made them so persuasive or convincing? Be specific or elaborate as much as possible. Then, connect your example to at least one concept/discussion from the course readings assigned for this week (Herrick ch. 2 or Gorgias’ “Encomium of Helen”) or the lecture. 
  2. According to the reading, why were the sophists so controversial? Choose and explain at least one reason that stands out to you and discuss the side you are on.
