I’m working on a writing discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
Law has many functions in society. Manifest functions are the obvious, intended functions, and latent functions are the unattended and not-so-obvious functions, or consequences of law. Some latent functions of law can prove dysfunctional. This means they can exacerbate the original problem the law intended to address or create new social problems.
